100 days to go

  • a few things today...
  • 100 days 'til our due date - November 19th!
  • 280 days total (40 weeks)...180 down 100 to go!
  • I've written the countdown from 100 to 0 in my planner
  • the finish line seems more in sight
  • today is my mom and dad's 35th wedding anniversary!
  • HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!  and I thought 3 years was an accomplishment! wow...35!  you guys are great examples of true love and commitment; love you both!
  • today is voting day in Argentina (legislative primaries, as best we understand)
  • voting is mandatory for people 18-70 years old
  • I was told by some of my adult students that: voting day is always on a Sunday, alcohol is not served after midnight the night before, many places are closed on voting day, schools are closed in the morning the day after, and you could be arrested or put in jail if you did not vote (you must plead your case if you must miss for medical reasons, etc.) we don't know what if any of this is true
  • after Jake's run this morning, he stopped and chatted with the portero next door who informed him that, in previous elections, when people didn't feel much like voting for any one of the available candidates, some chose to slip a slice of deli meat into the voting ballot in place of selecting any of the unsatisfactory candidates

  • that's all!  have a great week everyone!
